Wildly Customized Scion iQ Looks Fast, Isn’t

2012-Scion-iQ-SR-Project-Pryzm he golf cart-sized Scion iQ doesn’t need much help standing out on the road. Nevertheless, the folks at SR Auto Group applied their unique touch to the diminutive iQ. With its gaping maw front grille and valance treatment, along with a few racing-inspired bits, the SR Project Pryzm is an extreme take on Scion’s smallest offering.

So named for the iQ’s “sharp and boxy exterior,” Project Pryzm began with a stock iQ, which had its suspension lowered on 17-inch Sparco wheels. For the project’s exterior styling, SR went with a body kit from Premier 4509, with redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new hood vent, front fender flares, custom side skirts, and a subtle rear roof spoiler. Finally, the car was painted in a two-tone scheme, with black accents to match the wheels.

Inside, the British Columbia-based tuner moved the side bolstering up on the factory seats and added a diamond-stitched pattern on the custom black suede seat backs. Black leather covers the outer portions of the seats, which get red stitching on the seams.

SR says the goal of the project was to “create a car that would leave you speechless.” Do you think the company achieved its goal?
